Is Phi Phi worth staying or......

Hello all

After hearing some ideas from Sweetpea (thanks sweetie ^^), we plan to go south after week in Chiang Mai... We'll be flying from CM to Phuket and then head on to Krabi... I know that in-between Phuket and Krabi, there's a Koh Phi Phi...Is it a good idea to stay a few nights at Phi Phi? Or just a day trip is enough?

Looking forward to some more ideas, please

Victor

Hi,

If you have the time I would stay on Phi Phi for at least 2 or 3 nights. The main village/town, Ao Ton Sai is quite lively in the evening. And, if you like walking/hiking there are some pleasant enough places to walk to. Also, don't miss the sunset at the Viewpoint, it can be reached on foot.

Absolutely!

Don't be scared off Ton Sai bay or Phi Phi by the rumours that it is over populated, party crazy non authentic experience. Ton Sai & Phi Phi for that matter is what you make it! The island is your oyster and your minutes away from a party scene, to quiet local villages to some of the most beautiful pristine beaches and crystal clear warm-as-a spa waters in Thailand!

Sure there are massive beach parties only metres away- like no where else in the world! If ya can't beat em, join em and you'll love it! Not what you're into? It's easy to avoid the party life.

There and hundreds of incredible Thai and international restaurants with genuinely friendly locals willing to have a chat, teach you about culture and encourage you to try authentic thai food and experiences. We had some of the best Thai we've ever had at Ton Sai and we've had our fair share around Thailand.

Some beaches near Ton Sai are little polluted and slimy in SOME small spots- not all. This is due to the parties and massive fire shows held on the beach every night and yes the pollution does bother me conscience which is why we chose to stay at eco friendly hotels and do a little rubbish collection when walking on the beach. But its not smelly or crazy dirty or anything.

Yes Phi Phi is a tourist attraction but it is incredibly beautiful, you're a short walk or taxi boat (if you wish to explore the other sides of the island) away from the most incredible beaches.

Day trips and snorkelling are fantastic.

We stayed on Phi Phi for 8 nights at a few different beaches and accommodation styles around the island both cheap and high end. We were concerned we'd dislike our stay Ton Sai in particular because we'd heard it was full of party crazy backpackers and had become a westernised mess. We had an incredible time!! And not once during our Phi Phi experience were we haggled or had a salesperson try and sell us a massage, a suit or a souvenir! Yep! Not once.

Phi Phi island is an absolutely relaxing beautiful place to visit. The weather is amazing, anything goes, you can make it your own experience and you'll feel like you are in fantasy land!

I'd recommend Phi Phi far over Patong beach Phuket!
