Ko Samui - Looking for reasons to stopover

Hello,

I'm planning our next visit to Thailand in July.

After blowing out of Bangkok, our primary focus is going to be Ko Phangan. The last time I was there I did the Surat Thani-Ferry route, so Ko Samui was nothing more than a quick stop at a non-descript pier.

My head tells me we should spend a night there this time so we can piddle around and check the box.

But my heart screams Ko Phangan, relegating Ko Samui to nothing more than a ferry stop again.

Is there something I'm missing? Have I got it all wrong??

I'm open to staying for a day, but only if there's something extra super duper compelling that I can't find next door.

Thank you,

Renee

HI

Is there something I'm missing?

A] yes

Have I got it all wrong??

A] Probably!

What is it about Koh Phangan that you love?

I would suggest that Samui is worth more than 1 day!

Thank you for quick response.

Ko Phangan, Why do I love thee....

-The laid back vibe, especially after being in Bangkok and my life back at home

-Decent roads and driving conditions

-Good selection of mid-range beachfront bungalows

-Beautiful beaches without the throngs of Patong

-Friendly locals

I'm looking for Ko Samui ideas...your turn :-)

Hi

Koh Samui offers many beaches some are very quite some are not so. I don't have much to add. There are words saying " if never go you will never ever know " perhaps give koh Samui a few days of koh phangan time to make up your own mind.

Cheers,

Sweetpea - if someone gave you one full day and night and said you could spend it anywhere on Samui, where would you pick?

From your post # 2 either Chaweng Noi or Silver beach( Thongtakien beach) . These two beaches may suit.
