How to save a few Dollars on Hotels? Late Check In/out.

1. Arriving in BKK in July on a Friday night at 11:30pm currently reserved at Fraser Suites Sukhumvit until the following Tuesday before heading off to Chiang Mai. The entire stay is currently reserved at $470 USD which is essentially at the top of our budget; however we hear that the quality and location of Fraser is worth it. Nonetheless considering that we will probably reach our hotel well after 2am I am curious as to if there is any way we could save on the 1st night as we will essentially only be there for a few hours.

2. We have a similar issue coming back from the Phuket area to Bangkok at the tail end of our trip. We arrive back in Bangkok on a Thursday and will be flying out of BKK at 1 am on Saturday morning. Haven't reserved a hotel for these days but will probably not do Fraser to save a bit. Nonetheless again with our early morning flight we may have to pay for another night.

Any suggestions here? What about Air BnB or a vacation rental? Would they be more flexible with prices and arrival and/or departure times?

Thanks in Advance.

If you are on an international Fight , I would have yo at the hotel at about 11.15. Might be later.

So that is 4 nights so 117.50 per night

I have had the same issue coming into Bangkok and getting to the Hotel at 2.00 am. I started stay at IBIS Nana.

Prices of hotel do go up and down .However I have paid at IBIS lowest at 1300 baht per night to 1740 being the highest

So you need to decide is it worth a cheaper hotel nearby ...walking and perhaps save 50 dollars for that night.Over satying in one place.

On the last night in Bangkok, it would depend on a number of factors, not sure I would book a hotel is my flight is a 1 am. working back, you need to be heading to the airport at 10.00 PM.

If it was me, I would check out and leave my bags at the Hotel. I would consider find a place to have a massage and a shower .Then collect my bags and go to the Airport.

On your arrival, if you don't want to spend big bucks, just grab a room at a hotel near the airport. There are lots of decent US$30-50 options there, with shuttles to & from the airport. Get some sleep then head to your fancy digs the next morning. A higher end hotel like the Frasier, won't discount the room for late arrival, as there is no benefit for them to do so.

I have arrived in Bangkok around midnight from the States numerous times, and my advice is to just pay the extra money and stay at the Fraser Suites your first night. My typical timeline upon arrival puts me at the hotel around 2:00am, and then it is at least another hour until I'm asleep. I then sleep from 3am-noon, and it sucks to have to wake up at 10:00 that morning and move hotels, especially when it's hot and you're tired and have luggage and there is a 3-4 hour gap between when you can check out of your first hotel and check into your second hotel. I don't think the $60 USD you'll save is worth it.

On your return through Bangkok, look at Hotel Clover Asoke. The hotel is very centrally located, and will keep your luggage all day after you check out AND they have a shower room you can use the night after you check out. So you check in there Thursday night, check out Friday around noon, leave your luggage, enjoy your last day in Bangkok, come back around 8:00pm to pick up your luggage and take a shower, and then take a taxi (or the ARL) to the airport.
