Bangkok or Tokyo or Hong Kong?

Jus curious as i've posted the following question in the Tokyo forums, and would just like to check i'm not getting biased answers.

I'm planning a vaction for a few weeks time to one of these cities for 7 days, with Emirates. Even though i think i've settled for Tokyo, i still wonder wether i've made the rite decision.

Any help here would be welcome. I'm in my late 20's, pretty active (buildings, scenery doesn't excite me), like to have fun type of scenario.

Which would be more to my liking? What are the positives and negatives of each city?

You say with Emirates? I didn't know they flew to Tokyo, that sounds interesting.

Bangkok has cheap accommodation, cheap food, cheap everything. Lots to see and do. Hong Kong is very expensive for accommodation and is like being in an ant colony. Tokyo is one of those places people want to visit but expensive and not really much there for the tourist.

I've been to all three places. I like Japan a lot because the food is good, good public transportation with the bullet train, and no hassle with people trying to scam you. It is expensive there. I pick Bangkok as second since food is also good and lots of cultural places to visit but always be on alert for scams from everyone. Your money can go a long way in Bangkok and splurge on massages and shopping. I wasn't too fond of Hong Kong since the food is ok to me. Public transportation is good and not too worry about scams, at least I wasn't bothered by anyone while I was there. Cost of food is average, just like how it is in the States, about USD$7 a dish. The food taste just the same as chinese food in the US. I would suggest Shanghai or Beijing, lots of clubs and cheap food and drinks.

For me that's easy...... Bangkok!!! As others have said, Tokyo is a very expensive (and large) city, where English is not widely spoken. Bangkok and Hong Kong (are also large cities), but much cheaper, the night life is excellent, and English is widely spoken in both cities.

I've been to BKK many times and lived in Japan.

Stay with Tokyo. It's amazing. A real censory overload of the best kind. 7 days isn't enough but you'll still get to see and do a lot.

Cost, on the other hand, is out of control over there. Coming from the UK, you may have a nice exchange rate but it's still pricey.

I love BKK because I can stay at The Pen for what dinner runs at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo.

Have fun.

i've been to those three cities. and i love three of them!

those three is big cities, crowd, with good food, good place to shop, and very convinient. There is public transportation.

but there are big different in price.

Tokyo is the most expensive between those three

hongkong the second look for

hong kong shopping guide

and i found bangkok is the cheapest.

i love bangkok for shopping. because there's a lot local designers, nightclub, restaurant, hotels in a real good value of money!

i would certainly pick bangkok between those three. and i'm heading to bangkok this new year.
