Urgent help/suggestion required for a short trip

Hello All,

I am flying to Dubai and taking my stoppage in Bangkok.

I will reach Bangkok @ 00:15 AM on 3rd feb and I have a flight to Dubai at late night on 5th feb.

I have not been to Bangkok before. So I really dont have any idea on what to look and what to do their. Hence I need your advise.,

I am interested in scenic beaches, good spots for photography, traditional Thai temples, other traditional Thai specialities.

So please tell me what to see and where to go?

Also, I heard Thai Massage is good to go.

How much they cost? Is it painful? Can you recommend me some cheap message parlors wher I can get good service?

First, take a look at the FAQs and Itineraries o the right side of this page, and the links on the left side - you'll find most answer there.

As for beaches, you will have to travel at bit as Bangkok is inland. The nearest is Bang Saen, the most popular Pattaya (two hours or so by bus or car). Huahin is about three hours, as is Rayong.

For massage, a very good place is Healthlandspa.com, they have about 5 branches in Bangkok and one in Pattaya. Very high standards but very reasonable prices.

You have very little time so I think the Thai beaches are out of the question.

Bangkok is a vibrant city and has plenty to offer, especially to a first time visitor. Grand Palace, a River cruise, night markets, Red Cross snake farm, ...the list goes on and on.

There are some excellent day trips out of Bangkok which can be arranged the day prior. One that we took was a trip to the floating markets and Kanchanaburi. It is a full on day with plenty to do and see which will give you a taste of the country life.

We have some pics, maps and stories of our Bangkok trip on the link below that may assist

Thanks sydtraveler,

Dragon has given you some excellent suggestions.

The day trips can be arranged from just about any street corner, especially around the backpacker areas. They will have a photo album to look for so you can chose your trips. If you get a chance, the Australian War Museum at Hellfire pass is really something and worthy of the effort.

Cheers

Wow, nice !

The these "Must sees" locations are close to each other?

I am just worried if I can make all these location in 1 and half day?

Or should I go with any day trip agents to cover these places?

How much the day trip guys cost?

No you can't. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keow are definate must see and in the same compound. Wat Pho is behind them. Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) is across the river by ferry from there.

Jim Thompson House is 1 minute from National Stadium BTS station.

I think trips outside Bangkok are not do-able is such limited time.
