Going with Tong: Floating Mkt, Fishing Village, Railway Mkt

This will be our only day with Tong (or any guide) while in Bangkok. Do you think this is a good use of our time with her? We plan to see the city of Bangkok ourselves and have a total of 4 full days in Bangkok. One day will be spent at Chatuchak Mkt.

Is there some other tour that you would recommend instead with her? Are Erawan Falls an absolute must see? Would love your thoughts!

Hi smirkus74

For a great full day trip from Bangkok I recommend the Bridge over the River Kwai trip. It's a full day out including a lunch and really good. You go to Jeath camp (very small) and travel on the death railway usually from Kanchanaburi. You go on a longtailed speed boat down the Kwai and get to walk over the 'Bridge'. It's interesting, exciting and you gat to see beautiful scenery.

The Grand Palace is a must and the floating market whilst quite commercial is well worth a visit.Very Different.

An evening trip is the Thai Classical dancing. Sounds stuffy but it's lovely. It's in a large teak building where you sit on the floor at long tables(there is a pit hollowed out for your legs under the table) and you have a thai meal whilst watching the dances which all tell a story. The girls are beautiful and the costumes amazing.

A trip on the river in bangkok on the boats(ithink we went on the white Queen) to The old capital, that was, and including a meal on the boat is also very pleasant.

Havn't been to the Falls so can't help you with that.

Have a great time.

We did this tour with Tong 3 weeks ago and it was the best trip of our holiday - the fishing village was great our own private tour - really special - cannot recommend it highly enough - be prepared to eat and try lots of food at the floating market - Tongs great - she seems to know everyone and was a superb guide for the day. Anything you want to know pls ask - havent got as far as uploading pics yet as stuck in Thailand but will be doing blog/photos when we get back....

I endorse the Kanchanaburi full day tour. If you haven't been previously, I'm sure you will have a most memorable day.

As regards the Erawan Falls, they are located farther out from Kanchanaburi town. You would not have the time to do the full day tour and the falls.

If you have the time, I would recommend at least an overnight stop in Kanchanaburi, or preferably two nights - there is so much to do and see.

Just been last week, we had Kung as our guide, she was excellent and we had the most wonder day out. One of the highlights of our trip. You must go its as good or better than the reports you have been reading on this site.
