We are 2 middle aged women who are stopping in Bangkok for only 2 nights on our way to Laos in January 2011. My friend wants to stay only at a lower cost hotel near the airport as she's concerning about how we get in late and leave early by plane so she only wants a near airport location and wants a place that has a van service to pick customers up at the airport.
I've checked around quite a bit online and it seems like the best choice with those criteria is Queen's Garden hotel. My main concern about it (or any other suggestion for Bangkok airport area hotels) is that we want to be able to see some sights on our 1 full day in the area but because of the distance from the airport area to major tourist places like The Grand Palace we would want to get some organized full day tour deal where they pick you up at your hotel. I was in Bangkok 20 years ago and saw the main sights myself but never saw Ayutthaya so that would be what I most want to see.
I'd appreciate any input people can give on the Queen's Garden hotel and if any organized tours can pick you up at that location for day trips...and if there is a choice what company is reliable. I don't want to get into a "tour" that leads to a gem store or any other shopping #*&% time anywhere.
