Grand Palace to Siam Square

Hi friends

I would be travelling to BKK in Jan 2011. I am located closely to the MBK mall. I need your help to understand travelling from Siam to Grand Emerald Palace.

-What would be the best and cheapest way to reach this place without a guided sightseeing tour.(a combination of ferries & tuktuks will work fine for me)

-What are the entry charges for Grand Palace and Wat Pho

Thanks for your help. Your advice will make my travel simpler.

This link describes how to get there:

Admission to the Grand Palace is about 400 baht, and Wat Pho, I think, is 80 baht.

Go n-eiri an t-adh leat.

Yes, take the river boat to Saphan Taksin Pier and then the Skytrain. The last stop is Stadium which is close by to MBK and the one before is Siam. You may save money but more importantly, you will avoid the traffic.

Enjoy your travels.

Hi,

It's a few baht if you take the ordinary boat. I can't remember exactly how much it is but someone else can come up with the exact price.

The orange flag express boats have jumped to 15 baht.

Taking the boat / sky train option, not only avoids traffic, but, even more importantly, negates making you have to talk with taxi drivers around the Grand Palace area!

If you really want to do it on the cheap, then take the red bus number 15 which stops underneath Siam skytrain station and then under the National Stadium skytrain station. It goes all the way to the Grand Palace, stopping right outside the gate, and costs a staggering 6.5 baht. Just ask your hotel to tell you where the bus stop is, and when you leave the Grand Palace you get on the bus at the same bus stop you got off at. You get a virtually free tour of Bangkok, and have a bit of an adventure as well.

If you head under the BTS platform, across from Siam Paragon, it will soon be obvious where the bus stop is.
