Air Asia moves to Don Muang Airport Oct. 1

In principal, Don Muang (DMK) is to be the home of all low-cost airlines operating from Bangkok. Nok Air and Orient Thai are already operating from DMK and now will be joined by Air Asia. Thai Airways, both international and domestic, and Bangkok Airways will remain at Suvarnabhumi BKK.

A passenger shuttle bus is going into operation to run between the two airports.

Serves you right for trying to circle Victory Monument at rush hour :-)

But a cab driver coming down from Don Muang Airport to Pratunam would likely avoid VM and take the Expressway right down to Petchaburi, I think. There still could be traffic congestion, but 35-40 minutes would be about average.

Now everyone can fly...from Don Muang Airport :)

The departure lounge can a bit chilly for kids. Good range of eateries, clean toilets and a new interactive screen just around the departure lounge...

Don't sit in the airport all night even if it's open. Take a taxi into town upon arrival. It's safe. If you're really worried about safety, get an AoT (Airports of Thailand) limousine transfer for 700 baht.

There are no late-night surcharges for taxis in Bangkok.
