Samui airport are the same one as koh samui airport.

Just keep in mind air Asia and Nok airs both DOES NOT fly to koh smaui. They are actually fly from Don maung airport to mainland + bus + ferry across to koh Samui. Basically they include the bus and ferry in their air tickets.

The best and convenient but not cheap is to fly with Bangkok airways ( 12 flights daily) or Thai airways ( 2 flights daily) direct to koh Samui.

I'm not sure how far or how long from Suvarnnabhumi airport to Donmaung airport.

As sweetpea suggests fly Air Asia or Nok Air. Both airlines have combo deals which include the transfer to Don Sak pier and catamaran or ferry to Koh Samui. The journey time to Don Muang from Suvarnabhumi is about 40 minutes.

The fastest sea journey is with Lomprayah:

Thai and Bangkok airline are the only one that fly direct from Bangkok to Koh Samui. That is why it is so expensive.

There is a free shuttle bus between the 2 airports, or you can get a taxi which would cost approx 350/400 baht.

Taxi will be faster. Approx 40/50 minutes.

you can take the direct flight from Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways as other suggested or you can find the cheap flight from Bangkok to Suratthani, operate by Air Asia then take the ferry to Koh Samui.

Maybe you can compare the expense of both options with your time :)
