Australians receive a free 'visa exemption' stamp which is then valid for 30 days if arriving by air. So there should be no 'visa' cost for your 7 day Thailand vacation.

i still have bad memories of queuing for about 90 minutes at Bali airport in stifling heat !
then having pay about $25 US for an Indonesian tourist visa just to visit Bali for 7 days
it doesnt cost anything for a visa to thailand and if you dont like a long wait at customs get a vip entry where you get rushed through very quick. Do a search on vip customs entry fast track into thailand and you will find many companies offering this service.
