Vodka, imported, would have been most of the total. Seems perfectly fine to me.

If you are only drinking the vodka with mixers then Gilby's is ok - I think in 7-11 it was 480 baht for 70cl or 580 baht for a litre. Smirnoff was at least 700 baht for 70cl. We like our vodka and find Gilby's fine to go with coke, sprite, tonic etc - we wouldn't drink it straight though!

Get a bottle on SangSom Or Mekong - very cheap and delicious. :)

Drink local grog/spirits is cheapest route to go.

Try the Siam Sato found in the fridges with the beers. Goes really well with manao soda. Tasty and cheap.

It's more expensive than in previous years for Brits because of the exchange rate. For years a beer in a regular bar was about £1 for a 330ml bottle. Its been a few years since the Baht was 70+ to the £.

Then again when I first started travelling to Thailand in the mid 80's the rate was steady at about 35 Baht to £1, as it was for the next 10 years or so.

Here's an upto date price list for alcohol prices..probably slightly more expensive than Bangkok but gives you a fair idea none the less.Like anywhere it pays to shop around for specials especially the bigger supermarkets...

As Brit mentioned the local whisky Sangsom and Mehkong are good. Maybe it's the climate of Thailand, they taste great in Thailand but when you bring it home, they taste nasty.

I prefer Sangsom, I get less of a headache. Sangsom Coke Manao is a great combination.
