Spending money in Thailand

Hi Everyone!

We are travelling to Thailand at the end of the month, visiting Bangkok, Koh Samui and Koh Tao. I am looking for the costs of the following items, in Baht, so I can work out a rough budget. Please can someone who has recently been to Thailand help out...

Beer in restaurant

Beer in bar

Beer at 7/11

Water 1L

Full Body Massage

Meal in restaurant

T-shirt at MBK

Entrance to Grand Palace

Mani/Pedi

Rent a car for the day (Koh Samui)

Rent a scooter for the day (Koh Samui)

Rent a tuk tuk OR per km rate (Koh Samui)

Any special costs we should watch out for? Entrance to temples, clubs, taxi fees, tips.

Thanks in advance for the advice and assistance!

Jenna

Grand Palace - 500 baht.

Everything else, up to you. Nice meal or cheap meal? Big car or small car? Good beer or Leo?

Are you on a tight budget, mid or splashing out?

Beer in a pub (pint) could be anything from 120 to 230 baht depending on which place.

Hi

Massage, paid and main depends on where you have it in air com shops p, beach hut or day spa all have diverts price.

We spend around $100 each per day that's lunch, dinners and drinks ( nothing to fancy) snacks and a couple of massage. Busy spend more if shopping or have a meals in fancy place.

No tuk tuk's in Samui only Songthaews and taxis, beer around 120 baht but there's Happy hours everywhere and it depends where you eat and what. Hire cars start at 700 baht ,Scooters 200 baht but make sure you have an international licence.

these are all Bangkok prices taxis are cheap 200 b will get you from soi 11 to mbk around 4 km

tell the driver on the meter and give him a tip

airport to center go downstairs to public taxi rank ist less than 500b into town including the expressway tolls

have a 100b note ready tho as the taxi drivers may not have change

night clubs entrance can be expensive

and avoild the ava pub on soi 11 as you get lady drinks added to your bill

try the street food for realy cheap eats I found some real tasty fried dumplings\ donuts that were divine at 30 b a portion far cheaper than the hotel breakfast

Thai's can live quite easily on $2 or $3 a day. Us westerners obsessed with consumerism spend much more. Budget for between $3 to $300 a day and then only spend what you can afford. Simples.

Hi Jenna

Its totally upto you how much you like to spend. There is no limit to anything. You can spend 50$ also in a day and you can spend 300$ also in a day. In both the cases you can enjoy. Everybody's own preferences.
