from suvarnabhumi airport to sofitel bangkok sukhumvit

Hi, Will be in Thailand 27 Dec 2013 with hubby, touching down around 5.40 pm. We intend to avoid the unpredictable traffic jam (and protests?) by taking the cityline train to phaya thai station. From Phaya Thai Stn is it a hassle to connect to BTS Asoke Sukhumvit. Our hotel is about 400 metres from BTS Asoke Sukhumvit. The hotel address is 189 Sukhumvit, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110. Thank you.

You should follow the signs at phaythai to the bts station, it's not hard but it entails using a small lift or the stairs. The bts can get very crowded and doesn't have dedicated baggage spaces.

A faster route would be to take the Airport Rail Link city line to Makkasan, follow the elevated walkway across the street to the MRT (underground) Phethaburi station, then take the MRT one stop to Sukhumvit. When you exit at the Sukhumvit station, you will be right at the BTS Asoke station, which is an easy walk to the Sofitel.

This video shows the walkway from the MRT to the Airport Rail Link (so you will be doing it the opposite way - from the ARL to MRT): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y-Chhdwquw
