Calling Bankokonians, Sukhumvit MRT to Don Muang Airport

Happy new year, Sawai Dee Bee Mai...

Am looking for a Plan B, Due to the threat of possible road closures, later in the month i would like any advice please on the following:

1 - Were staying on Soi 11 and will need to get to Don Muang airport for a trip to Krabi, Should Sukhumvit be closed, how would you get to Don Muang Airport via ' Sukhumvit MRT Station ?

2 - Also from Suvarnabhumi Airport, how would you get to Sukhumvit Soi 11 via the rail link ? we've never used the rail link or MRT before, so is this ok ? Rail link from Airport to Makkasan Station and walk to Petchaburi MRT for 1 stop to Sukhumvit MRT ?

Worst comes to worst how long would it take to walk from Makkasan Station to Sukhumvit Soi 11 ?

Many thanks for you help.

No Airport Rail Link after midnight to 6 a.m.

I would take the CITY LINE to Phaya Thai and switch to the Skytrain. Then get off at Nana and walk to Soi 11. City Line is 45 baht. Maybe 40 baht more for the ride to Nana Skytrain stop.

I would probably just stay in a different hotel before walking. Assuming no tuk-tuk, meter taxi, city bus or Skytrain or subway available.

1. To Don Muang, take the MRT to Chatuchak Park and then the A1 or A2 bus to the airport. Before setting out, check Twitter to see if Vibhivadi Road leading to the airport is open. An alternative could be to take the MRT to Bang Sue and then a train to the airport, but that would likely take a lot longer. All trains going out of Bangkok stop at Bang Sue and all trains going north or northeast stop at Don Muang. But trains are slow, clanky and prone to breakdowns and getting sidetracked for lengthy periods.

2. From Suvarnabhumi via MRT, take the ARL train to Makkasan, the walkway to Petchaburi MRT station, and the MRT one station to Sukhumvit. The walkway takes about 5 minutes. The biggest hassle on this route is having to open your suitcase for MRT "security." Also there are about 5 steps you need to go up to get into the MRT station.

From Sukhumvit MRT station, take all the escalators up to the BTS station, but don't go into the BTS. Bear right and take the Skywalk around the BTS station and keep on it until you reach Robinsons Department Store. In the store, take the escalator down to street level.

You'd still have a fair amount of schlepping to Soi 11, so possibly Infidelal's route via Phaya Thai to Nana is better for you.
