State of Emergency imposed

News here reported that State of Emergency has been imposed in BKK for 60 days.

May I know how will this affect tourist? Does shops continue to operate normal hours or it will be shorten?

Thanks.

Seems as if the government spokesman hadn't been briefed, according to Twitter apparently a state of emergency has been declared.

It will be interesting to see how this goes down.

The police and the army are at odds - neither perceived as neutral.

We will have to see what measures are taken.

Heading to Bangkok end of this month - do you think it's wise to go ahead with my plan? Though last time this happened in 2010 (I think) I was passing through BKK to go to Cambodia, and there was no trouble anywhere.

Not too sure if this is the same or if it actually is worse. Anyone in and around from BKK at this moment?

Acc. to Channel News Asia it comes into force tomorrow for 60 days for BKK and surrounding areas. NO curfew has been imposed but it can be done if needed. All sorts of rules and laws can be imposed at short notice.

Shouldnt affect tourists at this stage.
