HELP! Itinerary arrangements for 8-day Bangkok Trip in March

Hi wonderful travellers!

This is my first time travelling to Bangkok with a group of 6 other girlfriends of mine and we would like some suggestions in arranging our itinerary.

Our 8-day stay in Bangkok starts somewhere in March (Saturday till the next Sunday).

Our first destination would be at Pratunam.

On average, will be bringing about SGD$500 = 12,846 THB for the entire trip.

Stated below are our restrictions/considerations:

1) Backpacking in terms of accommodation (Hostels/ Backpacker Hotels)

2) Island-hopping from Bangkok to different islands/places to do water sports/ sight seeing (We only have Koh Samet in mind as it is only 3hrs away from BKK?)

3) Halal food points

4) Other interesting activities we can do (including shopping at Chatuchak on weekends)

Your replies will all be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Dear AnneAyesha,

you can find a lot of replies to your questions for accommodation and halal food if you make a seach / broose forums in this TripAdvisor site here above!

Ref 2) island hopping

Koh Samed has only nature as sight seeing and really no water sports...it's basicly only relaxing on the beach by day and night. If yoy want water sports, head for Pattaya in stead.

Ko larn (pattaya) could be an option, greatplace at night if you only want the company of you friemds. $500 is tight budget imo & halal food can be a major problem in thailand, best to reseach for more detailed info

Halal food in Bangkok might be easiest to find close to Sukhumvit , soi 1-5 area as a lot muslims and arabs do stay in that area regularly. Here some articles:

4) Definitely get to the weekend market. I was there appr 3 weeks ago(not my first time) and had a great time. There is a bar type restaurant not far from where you walk through the stalls to get to the inside. Live DJ. When I went(on a Sunday), the chef was making HUGE portions of paella and entertaining the shoppers as they passed by. Many people stopped to take pics.

It's a great place to relax for a few minutes after shopping.

Also...try to get there early(I like going at 10:30) as it will get crowded and HOT! Take a bag/knapsack/big bottle of water and a camera and you will enjoy.....
