Banyon tree hotel

Hi, arriving at Banytree Hotel for 3 nights on 15th March 2014 and was wondering how safe that immediate area is. It looks quite close to Lumpini Park and the protest site on google but was wondering if it's far enough away to stop worrying. We have no intention of going any where near the protests during our stay in fact intend going the opposite direction. Any ideas anyone? Thanks phil

I'd also like to know how close Banyan Tree is to Lumpini Park - do you need to drive by there to reach the hotel from airport if taking taxi and not SkyTrain?

Thanks for any info :)

Not on the side where the stage is. Otherside until now has not been a problem.

Banyan Tree is probably close to one kilometre from Lumpini Park. No, you do not have to pass the park to get to Banyan Tree from the airport, but that doesn't really matter. It's not like a mad protestor is going to jump out and hijack your taxi. Anyway, the protestors are not violently rioting or anything like that, although the media are hyping the whole situation. Not a single tourist has been been injured, even when all the stages were up and running, and the problems that have occurred have been a few random attacks directed at the protestors, usually late at night.
