One day only in Bangkok

We are staying at Chatrium Riverside and only have one day in Bangkok. We are trying to think of things to do around the river such as a Kronburi Canal tour, visiting the Royal Barge museum, Grand Palace etc. Is this going to give us the best way of experiencing Bangkok with just one day or are we better off doing a day trip such as Floating Markets/Rose Gardens or River Kwai tour. Any help would be appreciated.

I would say do the Grand Palace, Wat Pho when it opens around 8.30am and you could do the Rice Barge tour in the afternoon which takes you around the canals of Thonburi and then transfer to Rice Barge for return journey - only takes 2 hours and gets you back around 4.30. You could then shop and dine and Asiatique or go to Chinatown for eats followed by drinks at a sky bar.

Cassnu + 1. Just add Wat Arun on, its a short cross river trip from Wat Pho.

Thank you for your reply. What is the easiest way of getting from Chatrium Riverside to the Grand Palace, Temple of Dawn and Royal Barge museum? Is it possible to hire a guide and long boat to take us everywhere?

You can use river taxis for all those and yes you can hire long tail boats too.

Hi with limited time maybe a good plan to hire a guide for the day so you get the most for your time. The faqs list guides hired by TA members Nook and Tong well thought of . Over the last few years we have hired Wandee a local guide most recently last week. She has always delivered a quality service at a fair price.

Am sure in your day you could plan in the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Wat Pho and a long tail round the canals.

After our day last week Wandee took us to her " favourite" restaurant as she lives near to the Chatrium. Not the most sumptuous of placed but was clean, with freshly cooked delicious Thai food and pain free on my wallet, lol

Wandee is at wandee@wandeetours.com

Thanks for your help and recommendation. I will email Wandee and see what she would suggest.
