Bangkok Int Airport Transit - accompanying kids to departure

Hi

We are a family of four flying into Bangkok in June from Australia. Our kids (11 and 13) will take a flight 3 hours later to family in Europe and we will be staying in Thailand until they return 2 weeks later. Can we all go together through to the departure gate until they their flight leaves? If not, any suggestions on how to solve. It is the fist time they travel without assistance.

Thank you.

Firstly, obviously your children will be met by an airline rep prior to departure given that they are unaccompanied minors - which I assume you have arranged.

The transit procedures are simple, suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/225-from-internat… You would not be allowed into departures given that you do not have an onward flight.

Perhaps, kill an hour together in arrivals but the airline rep will be keen to transfer your children to the departure gate.

If you were someone important Thai wise no doubt special dispensation would be given to allow you to go to departures with your children and then after boarding return to arrivals .

I was recently on a flight which had a teenage unaccompanied kid booked. The kid was met at check in by an airline rep who stayed with him in the lounge until boarding. At the gate he was taken over by gate staff and taken to the plane where a crew member took him over. It was a TG flight, one FA looked after his wellbeing all through the flight. No doubt the procedure will not be very different with another airline. I assume you booked your youngsters as "unaccompanied minors".

All kids need to be booked as unaccompanied minors as the airline will not let them through. I assume you have done this when you booked your ticket. If not you had better speak to the airline quickly to get it sorted.

An unaccompanied minor " UM handling fee" will be incurred depending on the airline..Thai Airways for example charge extra for this service so do check with your carrier what charges apply. Also a designated guardian or relative needs to be nominated on the UM form at the final point of arrival to sign the minors out..no exceptions so make sure you correctly fill out the UM form with the relevant visa's and documentation needed for your kids!
