if its similar to what happened a few months ago, then everything will be fine.

I visited & stayed in Bangkok 3 times during Jan/Feb 2014, staying next to the Asoke protest site. Had no problems whatsoever.

There have been nearly 200 "Protest" threads in the last 4 months on the Bangkok forum, I would have a read of a few of them, to get an idea of what has gone on.

Obviously nobody can predict what will happen in the future

Fearless Leader is planning his umpteenth "final push" the 14th of this month. What he will do, if that fails to topple the government, only his benefactors know.

Over the last couple weeks, he has led impromptu marches, screwing up traffic in different areas of the city.

The violence that has occurred, during the current protests, has very isolated. Unfortunately, some innocents have been hurt.

A new Thai general election set down for 20th July and accusations, counter accusations and impending law suits and corruption charges being aimed at Prime Minister Yingluck over the dodgy national rice scheme!

What political unrest?..Just another normal day in Thai politics !!

Firstly, there are 4 protests sites and people should be avoiding all of them as per most countries travel advice. (Though reportedly the protest at the Interior Ministry will be abandoned today after being there for the last 6 months, http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/politics/407977/protesters-end-interior-ministry-siege)

The Lumpini site has been recently expanding in area outside the park, eg now blocking most of Ratchadamri rd. After a relative lull for a few weeks since Songkhran, violent attacks have restarted with a grenade attack on Thursday night at the Chaeng Wattana site injuring 1 protester.

Tomorrow, Mon 5 being Coronation Day, both anti-govt (at Lumpini) and pro-govt protesters (in far west bangkok) will be demonstrating in Bangkok, bangkokpost.com/most-recent/407737/city-poli…

LOL

There has been political unrest in Bangkok for decades which occasionaly bubbles up to a more visible level with either protests or a military temporary take over being the usual.

Steer clear of protest sites and there is no reason why you should have a problem.
