Riverside is a nice area which might suit your family, more important than area though is to be close to transport links (BTS/MRT stations)

3 months research and you still haven’t picked an area. Really, I think you are pulling our leg there.

Riverside. But as LondonChris_S says its important to stay near a BTS/MRT station.

Hi Shanti,

There are different reasons for each of us in taking a vacation in BKK.

For TA members to provide you with good & meaningful advice, you need to tell them what your interests or objectives are for this trip.

Hi Shanti,

Being a budget traveler, I tend to choose hotels like Chatrium Riverside or Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside Hotel. Heard Anantara Riverside is good too, though never stayed there. At the lower end, you have Ibis Bangkok Riverside which gives good value for money.

All these hotels have shuttle ferries to Saphan Taksin BTS station where you could go to many places for shopping & massages.

Yeah by the river is a good choice, the river provides a soothing and cooling influence to the environment, as well as beautiful - near Saphan Taksin BTS, you have the Skytrain (for the more modern part of Bangkok) and the river boats (for generally the more historic parts of the city) on our doorstep.

The centre of Bangkok is debatable. If it is Siam (this is the Skytrain central station) then Saphan Taksin is 5 stops away and less than 15 minutes.

The Grand Palace is about 15-20 mins up the river by boat and Koh San road is about 30 mins up the river from the main pier.

Taxi's are very cheap and I often use them more at night when there is less traffic.

If you are looking for an apartment, do google searches for:

TheRiverSideBangkok

Chatrium Riverside

CentrePoint Silom

Klapsons
