Airport to City

Hello All,

I hope you can help. We are landing in Bangkok and flying to Chiang Mai the following morning. We are staying in the Novotel at the airport. I was wondering however whether it is feasible to get to the city for dinner and back that evening? There is nothing worse than hotel food so I do like to head out.

We will be back in Bangkok later in the trip but this would be nice if possible, does anyone have advise on the quickest and most effective mode of transport?

Kind Regards

Graeme

Depending on time of evening and where in town you want to go it could take between 30 mins to an hour or so in a cab (assuming you avoid rush hour) and cost you approx 300/400 THB. (£6 to £8).

You could also go accross to the airport rail link and get a train which will be cheaper (depends where in town you want to go after that you might then need to change trains).

Hi,

As Chris above suggests you could get into the city by using the Airport Rail Link and/or the MRT (underground)/BTS (Skytrain). The link below shows routes:

One option of many is to take the ARL to Makkasan and follow the Skywalk to the MRT station at Phetchaburi Road. Go one station south to Sukhumvit and eat/shop in the Terminal 21 Mall.

If you use the Airport Rail Link depends on the time you arrive. Although meter taxi is always available.

(Verify that the flight to Chiang Mai leaves from Suvarnabhumi and not Don Muang Airport.)
