InterContinental Bangkok or Chatrium riverside

We were booking at InterContinental Bangkok; but someone told us that there is protest going on there; so now thinking Chatrium Riverside.

Does anyone know any current situation there?

Or which one is a better hotel for family of 4 which consists of 2 teenager girls.

Hi Tripsilove,

I've not heard of any new protests in any area, Read Richard Barrow's twitters for up-dates on Bkk in place of listening to rumors from a friend.

Intercontinental & Chatrium are2 of the top hotels in BKK. If you fancy going to the Grand Palace, temples, river markets, seafood restaurants & other river activities, then Chatrium would be ideal.

Otherwise, if shopping, dining, night markets, street food & massages are some of your passions, then Intercontinental.

You might need a straw poll by the 4 people in your group.

Thanks, actually we will be doing both the categories; temples and street food.

HI Tripsilove,

In which case, if I were you, I would opt for Chatrium just for the special experience of staying at the Riverside. Unlike Intercontinental which is more a conventional hotel in a crowded area, Chatrium offers more views, space and an uncluttered environment.

There is a short hotel shuttle ferry ride from Chatrium to Saphan Taksin BTS from where you all could access any city location for shopping, dining or street food.

Remember to go to Sukhumvit Soi 38 (Thong Lor BTS) for some of the best street food stalls in Bkk.

Have a whale of a time.

Hi, I would also choose the Chatrium, as the riverside is more relaxing but you can easily get to the busier areas using public transport.

Chatrium would be my choice too if only for the excellent location and views by the river

I have just booked a Riverside room for July at the Ramada Plaza next to Asiatique and just down from the Chatrium, it cost $83 per night including taxes but no breakfast. Couldn't believe it.

There are bargains to be had my friends.

I dont know about protest but Chatrium is a very nice hotel with spectacular river view in the morning. Intercontinental is in the heart of close to BTS station but a bit cramped up in its neighbourhood.
