Bangkok travel

thinking about a Christmas holiday trip to Bangkok. 3 grown children, Since we're flying from East coast US, I'm concerned that 10 days is not enough, but I really can't go longer. Would like ideas about where to stay, hotel vs apartment. We love great food and seeing new things. Is there a good travel agency

" Christmas holiday trip to Bangkok.."

The Christmas season is the busiest and most expensive time to visit Thailand. Even flights from the US are higher priced than other months.

My opinion, a hotel will be easier to book. Three grown kids can stay in a separate room.

Most travelers include other cities in their visit to Thailand than just Bangkok.

".. Is there a good travel agency?"

Where? Back home try "yellow pages" or maybe AAA. Using a real computer and not a smartphone you can access the FAQ's on this forum (right side) where there is a category for Tour Guides Bangkok. With a forum search you will come up with many posts asking about tours. Just about any travel agency can set you up with a tour on short notice, usually book the day before, leave next morning. Some hotels have tour desks.

You can book your own flights to and from Bangkok. Use a local travel agency back home or do it yourself on the internet.

"Would like ideas about where to stay..."

You can do a forum search. Hundreds of old posts asking same question. I prefer to recommend the popular Nana - Asoke area for restaurants, nightlife, malls, easy access to city rail service, etc. Others will recommend Riverside, Siam or Pratunam areas. Do some homework!

For hotel help include your price range for the hotel per night. Someone will come up with hotel recommendations for whatever area you prefer. You can do a forum search for hotels in your price range. Hotel rooms with A/C and private bathroom begin around 600 baht, other rooms can go for 6000 baht a night. What is your price?

(FAQ's and old posts have information on taxis, currency, transportation from the airport, "see and do" things and even some help with scams to avoid.)

From green banner at the top:

Bangkok is a big city. Bangkok has huge modern malls, excellent city rail service, cheap meter taxis, good intercity transportation. Consider a few days in Chiang Mai up north so you can see some of the real Thailand. All of Thailand will have summertime type weather not just beach areas.

Good luck.

Firstly I wouldn't stay 10 days just in Bangkok, probably 4 would be enough for a first visit and then probably include a beach destination like Koh Chang for something more laid back with less commercialised feel.
