Restaurants near Raming Lodge Hotel and other help needed

We arrive on the night train from Bangkok early in the morning, does anyone know of a good place for breakfast near the Raming Lodge hotel which is where we are staying that will be open at that time. Also, are there any recommended restaurants for dinner near the hotel that offer good food at reasonable prices.

We aim to go on a one night trip, any suggestions? From Chiang Mai we are travelling to Laos to do the Mekong river to Luang Prabang. Any recommendations for good transport from Chiang Mai to the port to catch the boat would be great and suggestions on where to stay at the port to catch thbe morning boat. We also fancy one of the better slow boats that include a hotel for the overnight stop and lunch etc on the boat. I have heard there are some companies which charge more but offer a really good experience - any ideas would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Bob1949, when will you be in Chiang Mai? We will be there on 19/10 until 22/10, staying at the Raming Lodge.
