JBR- Met my sponsor child

I met with my sponsor child in late May in Wiang Pa Pao. By far the most memorable part of my trip to Thailand.

I arrived a day after the Bangkok clearance and the curfew was in place. Hence Chiang Mai was very quiet.

With the help of a great driver and tour guide through All Thai Experiences I was able to make a dream reality. My very knowledgeable guide was able to translate for me and give me an insight to Thaialnd culture I wouldn't have known.

The school which my child attends was off the track a little and took some finding. but once there I was so happy to see what I was doing to help this little girl and hopefully her family too, by breaking the poverty cycle.

I was taken to a hill tribe village one like where my sponsor child lived, I couldnt' get to her actual village because of bad roads. No running water or electricity. So much we take for granted, like having a bathroom and hot water.

Very lucky that I can visit whenever I want through this mission, St Veronica Welfare. Org. Australia

I will be now trying very hard to get over and see her on a yearly basis.

Was great to hear about meeting your sponsor child. My wife and I are still looking to sponsor a child in Thailand. After two trips to Thailand we love the country and the people so much that we would like to do something to help support a child (and their family) reach their potential in life.

Coxie - So glad you were able to get to visit your sponsor child. I had heard part of this story from Randy. It was great you had him to take you and help you feel comfortable.

We also sponsor a child in Nth Thailand through Compassion Australia. They have a number of projects in the Nth of Thailand. It is similar to World Vision where you pay a certain amount per month. Meeting him and his family was also a highlight for us.

Caroline.
