Drainage is that area is poor. During a heavy rain Chang Klan road has ankle deep water but drains off in an hour or so. The river now is about normal for this time of year. When the river gets above normal water from the night bazaar area cannot drain off and that is when there is a big problem. If it rains hard in the mountains or farther north it will drain into the Ping River. Since the ground is already saturated flooding is very possible.

After huge downpours the night bazaar may have 3 or 4 inches of water simply because the storm drains can't handle such volumes of water. After the rain stops the water drains away in about an hour. This happens about twice a year, during the rainy season. Normal rainfall is not a problem as the drains can cope.
