I went to Chiang Mai for the first time recently and must say what an amazing place it is to visit. Chiang Mai is so different to other parts of Thailand that I have visited. I found it more relaxed and layed back. You don't get pressured to buy things at the markets and the people are so lovely, welcoming , friendly and helpful. I only spent five days there and wish I had gone for more. Did as much as I could fit into my short time there like visit Doi Suthep, the zoo, temples , markets, handicraft villages etc, all very interesting and enjoyable. I booked 2 day tours with Joy and can say I highly recommend his company. I stayed at the Raming Lodge, which was a great hotel and will do a review later. As it turns out when I got back home my sister invited me to go with her to do some volunteer work in an orphanage in Chiang Mai !!. What a lovely opportunity to give something back to such lovely people. So I said yes and am going back very soon in early October . Can't wait!
