Flooding in Chiang Mai?

We are considering going to Chiang Mai to do an elephant trek bt know there is flooding in the region at the moment. Does anybody know if there is flooding in the tourist areas and if treks are running?

Chiang Mai City area is just fine. We have been having some rain off and on over the past several days, but nothing unusual for this time of year. The Ping River is running high, but the boat traffic is still moving with no problem. I know that the Mae Sa Elephant Camp is still doing their 1/2 hour or one hour rides with no problem, but can't answer your question about a full out trek. Perhaps you should check with the trekking company you were considering? Hope this helps some. Marie (nannyre)

I was there ten days ago when the remnants of Typhoon "Nok-Ten" slowly passed through and there were some streets in the night market area that were a little flooded - only a few inches.

Maybe that was what you heard about.
