Which Hotel to stay in Chiang Mai that is a good location?

Will be coming to CM for 3 days stay after a week in BK in Jan 2013,

I am trying to book a 3-5 star hotel that is in perfect location and close to the night bazaar, eateries/restaurants and transportation system.

What about the transportation to CM to BKK, i heared that bus & train will take forever so perhaps flight might be the only option for us but which airline is reliable and affordable and how to book online? Do I need to book in advance to save money?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Q: "any other hotels?"

A: Yes! quite a few........

agoda.com/pages/…

Promo code: UGRKqs (this is current, it may work)

Of the 548 hotels listed here kstkt K, I think about 300 of them would be within a $3 tuk-tuk ride or closer.

Have fun

Baan Orapin is one that has been highly recommended in recent threads.

Assuming you're not staying out-of-town, it should only cost you around 20 baht per person by songthaew to get you around the central area.

You don't list a budget range - That will be easier than listing a star range. Also, check out sites like www.wotif.com/ or www.booking.com/ for a list of hotels.

A couple of three to five star hotels in the night bazaar area -

Centara Duangtawan Hotel (as suggest above) 3 star

Imperial Mae Ping Hotel 3 star

Royal Princess Hotel 3 star

D2 Hotel 4 star

Le Meredien Hotel 5 star

Also - Rimping Village, Yangcome Village and Raming Lodge are all smaller boutique style hotels not far from the night bazaar area.

All the best,

Caroline.

thanks for the list. My trip date to chiangmai from BKK is in mid Jan for 3 nights, maybe 4 nights. Now I have to confirm the flight tickets. is air asia and nok air the cheapest one between BKK and CM? Do they allow you to change date or time ?

thanks

It is best to read the actual terms and conditions related to your specific ticket. With some tickets, there are restrictions to what can be changed, while others tickets allow you to change at whim, and this can be all for the exact same flight (just different type of ticket).
