Scooter tour of ChiangMai

Been researching online and it seems like scooter tours are a good way of exploring the more rural parts of CM. Would it be advisable for 2 girls to rent a scooter up to Doi Suthep - Hmong Village?

I have learnt how to ride a bike a long time ago, so I'm a little rusty; and my friend has no experience. But I've done some research, and it seems like many who have little or no experience still went ahead to explore CM with a bike. Also seems relatively easy...only thing I'm afraid is the steep ride up the mountains.

I've also read a few scary posts about 40 people dying everyday in Thailand, but I think if we are alert, the rural roads should be more safe..

Should we be looking at bike tours, or would it be easy to navigate the CM roads on our own?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks guys!

You might like to check out Something Different Tours. My husband did a tour with them last year and loved it.

JiaShuin,

Most probably on the 17/18 of nov, because we'll be catching the yi peng festival on the 16th.

When will you be in CM?

http://somethingdifferenttour.blogspot.sg/ seems really fun and adventurous!

I'm wondering if they allow us to ride the bike on our own. Thanks for the recommendation, DarklyDreaming!

Yes they do allow you to ride the bike yourself. My husband had called into their office the day before the tour and tried out a bike beforehand. He had very little experience but by the end of the tour he was an expert!
