Nice cheap accommodation in September.

Hi,

This will be our second visit to Chiang Mai and we usually stay 4 -5 star but with budget cuts, job loss, times are a changing. So with that in mind any suggestions for myself and hubby in a super clean, air con, nice place would prefer close to all attractions. Last time we stayed at Siripana beautiful but too far out form the city.

Thanks in advance.

You will get better suggestions, if you let folks know what your new target budget is.

We went to Mercure Hotel last year for $25 a night with a small buffet breakfast available

for $5. Join Accor and you might be able to purchase today as they have a members special at the moment, so prices should still be the same.Nice Hotel.

There are heaps of small guest house/hotels in the old city with a range of prices. We have stayed in Early Bird and loved it, and it's in a brilliant location and very good value at about $40/night including breakfast. There is no pool, and that might be an issue. My daughter has stayed in Funky Monkey - an even more budget small hotel just outside the eastern wall. 3 Sis also looks great, as does Charcoa House. But - with no idea of what you're happy to spend these may not be the best suggestions.

Baan Orapin might be an option, over on the river side. Check out their website for September prices. It's a few minutes by tuk-tuk from the old city or about 15 mins on foot. The riverside location is itself great - plenty of good eating and drinking options and small shops to browse. The Baan Orapin has a lovely pool, great breakfasts and is in a beautiful garden setting.

Baan Orapin is within your budget as spopey has said. It is lovely bed and breakfast and has good sized, very comfortable rooms and has a pool.

We stayed there and loved it.

Another option that you may wish to look at is Rimping Village. It always has good reviews.

We've come a long way in Chiang Mai, now that $80 is cheap. :)
