How many days in chiang mai

After 3 days in bangkok and 8 in koh samui I still have 4 days left for the north..... What do you suggest???

4 days is long enough to make it worth travelling up to C.M. Flights are cheap and often.

Yes as above, four days will give you a nice over view. You can base yourself in Chiang Mai and spend a couple of days in and around town and the other two doing day trips out in to the country side. There are lots of things to see and do in and around CM. Maybe have a look at the FAQ top right as a starting point for ideas. The top 20 has lots of suggestions in the first post and in the following comments, also the recent trip reports might help you as well.

4 Days Chiang Mai is okay; the thing I wonder about is 8 days in Samui. ;) That's not a place where there is a whole lot to see and do.
