Best location chiang Mai?

Hi

Looking for a twin room in chiang Mai for 3 nights, never been before so not sure of best location. Budget is @ 1500 baht, would be good to have a pool and be near temples, night markets etc.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

Everyone has a different idea of the best place to stay. Most people stay in the Old City, night market or riverside areas. We stayed riverside but would maybe try Old city next time just for somewhere different.

You really can't go wrong with any of these areas. Chiang Mai is very easy to get around.

Have a look at Awanahouse in the old city and maybe Baan Orapin which is riverside.

There are plenty of places to stay in Chiang Mai so it's just a matter of searching and checking photos and reviews on here.

You could have a look at the above. I personaly when I stay here opt for one of the 'residence' rooms as they come with a small seperate lounge as well as the bedroom. Very good location mid way between old town (about 10 mins slow walk and night bazaar again about 10 mins slow walk) Rooms generaly nice and quiet as it is set back from the road in a courtyard.

PS if you did stay here or in this area you might like to try this bar for drinks and food just up the road and I believe the cheapest place in Chiang Mai. Ru by a friendly American called Rudi.

When are you going? If it's not for some time it may not be full up. The dates may not be available yet. Try Baan Thai Village or Raming Lodge, both are inbetween the old city and night bazaar.

If you are going December or January a pool may not be essential. The 3 Sis in the old city gets consistently good reviews as does Pak Chiang Mai. Neither have pools but both are highly regarded.

Caroline.

I have stayed in the old city twice and really liked the position. Close the the sunday night market.
