Chiang Mai Itinerary for November visit

Hi guys,

Can anyone from past experience tell me how my Chiang Mai Itinerary looks and will all this be possible or any changes u could recommend?

D1 (Friday) - Arrive and wander the streets. Meal out.

D2 - Tong Bai Elephant Foundation or Thai Elephant Convention Centre.

D3 - Tour Doi Suthep and Sankhampeang hot springs then Sunday walking market.

D4 - Tour Doi Inthan National Park and summit Ang Ka trail, royal Pagodas, Mhong Hilltribe Market, Karen hilltribe village, Wachiratarn waterfall.

D5 - Day in Chiang Mai. Massage.

D6 - Tiger Kingdom.

D7 - Warorot Market area and Sois on the other side of the river.

D8 - Lamphun and the Wat Phra That Hariphunchai half a day.

D9 - Chiang Rai > White Temple and Saturday Night Walking Street Market Chiang Rai.

D10 - Chiang Mai zoo and either a Cooking class or Thai boxing depending on what the Wife prefers!

D11 - Day in Chiang Mai.

D12 (Tuesday) Home.

Is this achievable or unrealistic?

Thanks!

I think that sounds good. You are fitting a lot in, but there are enough spaces there to relax as well. Just one comment - your day 2 , 3 and 4 are all very full day trips. On day 6 The Tiger Kingdom will only take a couple of hours, so that day is pretty free. You have day 7 pretty free as well and day 10 and 11. I am wondering if it is worth changing your days around so say day 3 is changed with day 6 - just so you have some time to unwind and not be so on the go.

Day 9 is a huge day. I am guessing you are planning to come back to Chiang Mai that night - after going to the market? Just keep in mind last bus times. I think the last VIP bus leaves around 5pm.

I think it is all achievable and realistic.

Fill in the gaps with some massages and eating out at some of CMs wonderful restaurants.

Caroline.

The Chiang Rai trip probably would be better with an overnight stay. Other than that, everything seems doable. You may consider adding the Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens to your Tiger Kingdom trip or one of the many other attractions in the Mae Rim area as Tiger Kingdom itself won't take but an hour. Personally, I would skip the Chiang Mai Zoo if you are coming from a developed country. It is really not very good and is poorly maintained.

Haha! I have now added more massages to our Itinerary! Chiang Rai will be an overnight stay. Just need to book a hotel. I have added the botanic gardens and taken out the zoo after reading the reviews! Thanks.

November is a great time to be in Chiang Mai. There is also the Loy Krathong (sp?) festival in that month which is a very special event. Weather is good, not too hot. Your itinerary sounds great! The days when you have the time to just wander are IMO the most fun and full of surprises!
