Can anyone advise which T/C is better to take for exchange rates and ease of use ?

Sterling.

By the time you have taken in to account sterling/usd exchange rates then you will be worse off..

Current Thai-Bank USD Exchange = 38.76, STG = 67.87.

STG - USD = 1.719

So for £1,000 STG - USD - Baht = Bt66,632.316

STG - Baht = Bt67,870

you would be better off just taking sterling in cash, and also a debit card for use at the numerous atm machines

can't go wrong with the pound. By the time you change it you have paid commission and are worse off for doing so. Just take your money.
