spending money

Is 4000 bht a day a realistic budget for 2 people for food and drink?

Yes, you should do pretty good with that with a bit spare for shopping.

Though I am sure that many will tell you that this is way too much. But if you enjoy a decent bottle of wine for dinner and also like a nice dinner and not just food stalls, you easily will be in that range.

I managed it this year without too much bother despite the efforts of the 'other half' to over fill 2 large suitcases with 'bargains' :)

My only savings.. didn't rent a jeep but used lots of songteows instead

It should be plenty. There will be days where you won't spend half of it which will give you extra for those days when you want to splurge or hire a car etc. We probably spent an average of 3000B per day for 2 adults and a teenager and we ate and drank well :0

We are here now and I would say you will be fine with this amount of money- some places are so cheap, but so good, while not all the pricey ones are better.
