Hi Cheryl, we hired a driver for four hours and did a trip right around the island, stopping at different places. We went to Grandma and Grandpa rock and the rock formations were pretty out there. There is a little market there where they make the caramel coconut, you have to try it, it is amazing! We also went to the moneky show - dont do it it is a waste of time! poor little monkeys! and we also visited the Mummified Monk, which was quite amazing. I took photos from every angle, quite unreal, and his hair actually grows still and his fingernails. We didnt do any elephant trekking cos we had done that before. Lots of people hire cars there as it is easier to drive around Koh Samui than Phuket. Safer I mean. We are going back in April again and will prob do some of the islands then but there is quite a few island trips you can do. Chaweng at night is good, lots of lovely shops there and little markets here and there. On Friday nights there is a market at Bophut at Fishermans Village, havent been yet but everyone says it is really good. Also lots of restaurants at Fishermans Village as well. We found a few good restaurants in Chaweng as well, a little schnitzel place right in the middle of the shopping centre with a big sign outside "Schnitzels" they were 200 baht ($6) which I thought was a good price, they are down by Mr Fish. Notice you live in Brisbane so do we. Hope that helps you, where are you staying there? Cheers
