Going to Thailand Sept/Oct about 2 weeks. Lots of questions.

Going to Thailand Sept/Oct. Have 2 kids - 8&10.

We have a bout 17 or 18 nights in total

Would like to spend a couple of days or so in Bankok - shopping and a bit of sightseeing.

Is this a good amount of time?

Accom suggestions??

Then maybe a few days up north for more sightseeing / adventure

Accom? Suggestions where to go up north?

Like the idea of elephant rides / villages / markets / Culture

and then the rest down south at the beach -

I get the idea Koh Samui side is better than Phuket at this time of year?

Koh Samui? Koh Toh? Koh Phangan? - Suggestions??

re beach would like to be able to go to restaurants / markets

but nowhere too busy. nice beach

Accom approx 4-5 starish down south. Can be more basic up north

Suggestions / Comments welcome and appreciated!

Thanks

JS

Hi

Generally september and early Oct you should be ok weather wise in koh Samui. The rainy season should just start around mid Oct. But In Phuket October is still rainy season end around November.

If you have 18 days I would take out 3 days for travel time between places. With 15 days. I would suggest do

Bangkok first 3 nights for sights seeing culture, history temple shopping.

Frim Bangkok either take night train or fly up to Chiangmai for 5 nights do elephant trekking, zoo, culture visits temple, village scenery and markets.

From Chiangmai train via Bangkok to Surat thani ( mainland ) + land + ferry to koh Samui

Or fly with either air Asia or Nok airs from Chiangmai via Bangkok to Surat thani + land + ferry

Or

fly with either Bangkok airs or Thai airlines direct to koh Samui for 6 nights

Use koh Samui as your base do the day trip to neighboring island koh Tao and/or koh phagnan.

Keep the last night in bangkok before fly home.

In koh Samui for beautiful beach quiet but easy access to shops restaurants. Have a look at south Chaweng beach or Cheong mon beach. Both beach are the same quality of sand and water but cheongmon beach a re quieter with less options for locals eatery compare to south Chaweng beach.

Another note Chaweng beach divided in to 3 parts. North central and south. North are more develop central are busier with everything in your door step the south are nice and quiet.

In south chaweng beach have a look at

Chaweng cove resotel

Samui paradise beach resotel

Samui resotel

Centara grand beach resort

Banana fan sea resort

In cheongmon beach

White house

Kirati

Cheongmon bungalow

Imperial boat house

Samui honey cottage.

Hope this help
