Intercontinental in June - 5 nights with a 2 year old

Hi,

The wife, myself and (then) almost 2 year old son are planning 5 nights at the Intercontinental, Taling Ngam in June this year. (I know it's a bit early!). We're looking for a beautiful resort with lovely views and a lovely beach to laze on and swim in. Since we'll be with the little one, we won't be looking at going out much. Most probs just a couple of days for some outside food and water sports maybe (snorkelling, scuba diving, etc). And some tid-bit shopping perhaps.

With the above in mind, just needed some views/ experience on the following:

- Can you swim in the waters of the Intercon beach? Or is it dirty/ rocky and full of corals and stuff?

- How much time (practically) would it take if one wanted to venture out to any of the good restaurants/ convenient stores?

- Are there any places around the hotel to get some daily 'rations'?

- Is the resort beach any good? Or is it just sort of a tiny mass of sand?

A nice and quiet beach is important to us. One where you can easily go in the waters without hurting yourself. We made the mistake of staying at the Sheraton Hua Hin because that resort had no beach whatsoever! Don't get me wrong....the Sheraton Hua Hin is still a marvelous resort, sans beach that is!

Thanks in advance!

A bit early . . .? a bit late IMO!

- Can you swim in the waters of the Intercon beach? Or is it dirty/ rocky and full of corals and stuff?

A] Do you want swimming or just a beach where can sit in the water and enjoy the beach? If the latter then it would be ok.

- How much time (practically) would it take if one wanted to venture out to any of the good restaurants/ convenient stores?

A] 20minutes

- Are there any places around the hotel to get some daily 'rations'?

A] normally a 7Eleven or family mart about

- Is the resort beach any good? Or is it just sort of a tiny mass of sand?

A tiny mass of sand? Isn't that a beach? Yes there is a beach, not overly wide, but there is a beach.

Thank you for your reply, appreciate it! Just curious: why do you say its 'a bit late'? And I'm assuming from your views that the waters will be safe for a 2 year old to dawdle in?
