Koh Samui versus Krabi

Koh Samui versus Krabi

Hi All

We are planning a trip to Thailand in April and we're having difficulty choosing between Koh Samui and Krabi.

For those that have been to both, what is the main difference between the two?

Ideally we would like to be close to the local restaurants, be able to do a little bit of shopping but also have access to beautiful beaches. A little bit like the business of Patong during the day but the beaches of Kata. Not interested in the parties and nightlife as we have a toddler with us.

Any advice would be really useful!

Hi

You can't really compares the two as koh Samui is small tropicals island whereas krabi is the province with many beaches and islands. So really is not the fair fight.

Krabi has more to do on land as well as sea base activity and mush more beautiful scenery then koh samuii. Krabi are easy access and cheaper to get to. But I prefer koh Samui. Koh Samui has many beaches to chose from. From your criteria I think south chaweng beach in koh Samui would suits you.

Cheers,

I also prefer Samui than Krabi. As Pea says Chaweng is the right area for you.

Have been to both and Samui would be the first option everytime especially south Chaweng. Better beaches and swimming in Samui but make sure you stick to south chaweng if you want to stay in Chaweng

Where would the best weather be in the middle of September, Koh Samui or Krabi? Thank you.

I also prefer Samui to Krabi the main reason being that it has a more tropical feel being an island and the beaches are much nicer.

Mary, the weather should be better in Samui in September but it's coming to the end of the dry season so you may get some rain probably in the afternoon

Been to both, would choose Samui over Krabi based on your requirements. Krabi does have stunning scenery, but the beaches in Samui are better.
