Days 8-10 in Koh Samui

Well we're sitting in the Departure lounge waiting for our flight to Hong Kong after spending 10 wonderful days in Samui. On Day 8 we splashed out and did the Cookery Course at our hotel which was really great! First we visited Nathon market with the head Thai chef at the Anantara and then came back and prepared and cooked 3 Thai dishes which we ate for lunch with a glass of wine - superb! Friday we spent on the beach until it was time to go up to the walking street which was even more crowded than the previous week but still great fun. We had dinner at Nirvana restaurant which certainly lived up to its TA rating. Yesterday was our last full day and we mixed up some beach time with some pool time and some last minute shopping..... exhausting.

So as we sit here and reflect not only on our 10 days in Samui, but also on the previous 10 in Bangkok, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai our conclusion is that we love Thailand, we absolutely adore Samui and as someone once said "We'll be back"! D

Thanks for your reports Fave, I have really enjoyed your updates. Thailand is a place that seems to really get under your skin and you know when you are leaving that you will return. Safe travels.

Glad you had a great time Dave.

In a few days the post samui blues will settle in and I'm betting you start planning your next trip back. Happens to a lot of us.

Safe flights home.

Thanks for all your posts about your time in Koh Samui. We must have just missed you! We arrived at the Anantara on Saturday. Love, love, love the hotel. We've had some great meals in Fisherman's village but your tip about where to get wine is definitely going to get tried out tonight. Thought we'd had to give it up while in Thailand. One question- how do we get to Cafe 69 from the Anantara? Have tried but not found it yet.

Many thanks

S'ok we've found Cafe 69, just had cocktails at lovely bar overlooking beach, aren't they all, but can't remember the name. Happy hour cocktails 95B and delightful service. Then dinner at Nirvana. Excellent meal. Will have to return to Navigator as it was closed being a Monday.

First trip to Thailand and love it to bits!

Sorry to be a pain but can you point us in the direction of the Billabong bar, please?

Thanks, Bren and Steve

Bren & Steve - walking from the Anantara the Billabong is on the left before you get to the Navigator and Nirvana. Cheapest, and perfectly drinkable, wine we found was at the Barcelona Tapas bar. Enjoy!
