Taling Ngam OR Thong Ta Kien?

My husband and I are travelling to Koh Samui in the first week of September and would really like a place to relax (but not too far from the action). We were considering staying at the Intercontinental or the Renaissance. If anyone has been to either of these resorts, please share your experience? Also, I hear the weather and/or currents and tides may be very different on these opposite sides of the island. Any advice or tips would be helpful.

Hi

If you want not too fat from actions then renaissance is for you. The intercontinental have better view but the locations is not the ideals for what you want. The Inter located in quite remote area.

Thanks! If we were to stay at the Inercontinental...what would be the best way to get around the island?? Also, in the Lamai area- would you pick Renaissance or Meridien? Sorry for all the questions, but this is our first trip to Thailand and its all so last minute!

The best to get around the island from intercontinental is by car hire, hotel shuttle service or taxi. With taxi the hotel probably have to call it for you but on the way back you will have no problem. Its quiet a long walk to main road.

The room at intercontinental is perching on the cliff you will have to get up and down to beach ( you can hike) by hotel buggy. The infinity pool and Air bar has the most stunning view and sunset.

Both renaissance and Le meridian will get you to actions area easier and closer. Le meridian is closer though to Lamai centre.
