5hrs to lose

Hi we have 5hrs to lose waiting for our flight, can anyone recommend nice bars / restaurants close to the airport, or does the airport have any lounges available.

Hi

if you are flying with Bangkok Airways there is a free lounge, but it is pretty low key and not somewhere to spend 5 hours. When you see Samui airport you will know what we mean, it is a quaint airport.

Not knowing what time of day you have the 5 hours to pass makes it really difficult to suggest.

What times are you look to pass . . . 6am to 11am, 6pm to 11pm, etc??

Hi

For closer to airport I would suggest either fisherman village or big Buddha compound. There are bars, coffee shops thar you can have sit to have meals, drinks or even massage etc.

There are few restaurants and bars in the airport itself, if you decides to head to airport. Bangkok airways have airport lounge that you can use free wifi, snacks and drinks.

You can get to the airport within 15 minutes from FV, Big Buddha and even Chaweng areas. All these places will be much more interesting than the airport itself or the Bangkok Airways free lounges which are really no more then just gates with free snacks when compared to other airport lounges.

There's mostly just small local restaurants and businesses in the near vicinity of the airport.

Chaweng beach is the most popular part of Samui and Is only 15 minutes from the airport. You have the beach there and no shortage of bars and restaraunts. If your going to be there at night, check out soi green mango. If it's during the day, you'll find plenty of bars open along the main road.

Thanks for all your replies they have been very helpful, we get dropped of at the jetty about 3:30pm and our flight out (BKA) is 10pm so i guess we don't need to check our luggage in till 8:30pm, Looks like Chaweng beach is the best place to go, does any one know if you can store you luggage at the airport instead of carrying it round with us.

Hi there,

Another option for you - Taxi pick up, take you to see some sites, massage with private rooms where you can shower, drop off at restaurant with breathtaking views, relax, drop off at Airport. All the time your baggage is looked after and safe :)

Try emailing some private tour companies on the Island for a price :)

Good luck

Perhaps just rent a cheap room for say 700 baht that has shower and tv. Its a bit late for island tour. Maenam has some budget options.
