If you want a nice beach and clear waters then Phuket would be a better option than Pattaya but you're travelling during the peak period so you better be quick and book the flights and accommodation or you may have a probelm with availability.

Phuket flight OR a fairly long trip by bus

or train-bus but nice beaches

Pattaya is a bus ride (2hr I think)

from Ekamai bus stn

Vibrant town but not so good

beach --even Jomptien I

What is your budget like?

How long will you be in Thailand?

Pattaya is cheaper than Phuket and can be reached by bus or taxi from Bangkok in a couple hours. (Even Bangkok is cheaper than Phuket.) Local transportation in Pattaya is 10 baht and in the Pattaya City area you can walk to many things.

If swimming at a nice beach is very important then go to Phuket. If you are okay with sunbathing at Pattaya Beach but most of your swimming will be in a pool - choose Pattaya. There is some beach type swimming at Koh Larn Island reached by 30 baht ferry ride from Bali Hai pier.

Up to you.

And Pattaya accomodation is cheaper

especially if you want Pattaya 2 road

Apex Hotel is where I stay and it's a

short walk to Pattaya Beach Road

It has a good breakfast & nice pool

Close by some good choice eatery,s

Have fun

Depends what you are looking for because they are totally different in style and what they offer, so depends what you want to see / do and how you want to enjoy your days and evenings

Thank you for the feedback.

Yes I’m aware it’s likely the busiest time of the year

I’m leaning towards Pattaya as I’m interested in beach and sightseeing.

Are the beaches in the immediate area of Pattaya okay for sunbaking?

Is it dirty sand?

Is the beach at Koh Larn Island nicer for sunbaking?

Is Hua Hin easily accessible from Pattaya?

Kind regards,

You see tourists sunbathing on Pattaya Beach. You can rent beach chairs there too. Some cheap hotels have pools where you can lay out in the sun. You ALSO see tourists with severe sunburns too because they stayed in the sun much too long! (You don't need a beach or sand to get a tan or sunburn! Just walking around you can get sunburned.)

Be good to pull up a map of Thailand and locate some of the places you have an interest in. Note the locations and distances. Hua Hin roughly 3 - 4 hours from Bangkok.

Do a forum search and check the FAQ's for things to visit in and from Pattaya area. For questions on how to get from one city to another city you can also do a Google search. When you are in Bangkok visit the tourist sites closer to that city.
