Is it a bit like Benidorm?

Hi folks, My wife and I going to Pattaya (never been to Thailand) in July and I can't help but making comparisons with Benidorm!!! The coastline / beaches, the shape and size of the resort, nice hotels / low budget hotels, top nightlife, and the mixture of cheap / expensive pubs and restaurants. Can anyone shed any thoughts on my thinking?? I do love Benidorm and its nightlife. We are seriously considering the Siam Bayshore Hotel.

It is a bit like Benidorm on steroids, the water quality of the sea is not good though.

Above links are to online English language newspapers from Pattaya which might give you a bit of a feel for the place.

Hope that helps a bit.

No idea , my knowledge of Europe is very limited we have only visited a few places there but never saw anywhere at all like Thailand :)

Your choice of Siam Bayshore is excellent if you want to be close to busy part. There are other options such as the Dusit Thani which is very nice, there are many others such as Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott , Holiday Inn , Hard Rock , to more reasonable priced Four Seasons , Cabana etc

Pattaya attracts more Thai visitors for weekends by the sea than anywhere else and very popular , lots of sports in the area also, cultural sights and attractions, we have a condo there and visit a couple of times a month. It covers a very large area, the 'city' beach area is not great , you can also visit areas north and south , the beaches on Koh larn are quite ok and that costs from B 30 ( about US$1 ) for the ferry so cheap, even taking a trip by boat dorec to a beach on Koh Larn costs only B 150 ( approx US$5 ) return so makes a good value day trip.

This video clip gives a good idea of the area

Hi Ladyboy40

I think Donald and Jaqueline would find parts of Pattaya just up their street, if you know what I mean! ;-)

I suppose you could compare it with benidorm in some ways but what you won't find is huge groups of 18-30 pissed up Brits causing havoc . streets are busy with eastern Europeans but they don't like to spend in bars .
