Need some recommendations please on moderate priced restaurants close to the Holiday Inn in Patong. Like to eat both Thai and Western food. Thanks!
Many restaurants I found have a variety of western Thai and Italian, but of course, some others too.
One that I read alot about was Sweet restaruant and it was good and a reasonable price, but the best quality in the cheap to moderate range that we had, was easily the cheapest, that was called 'Break Point'. It is opposite Sweet restaurant.
Here is the address and some sample prices from October.
110/10 Thaweewong Road, Patong Kathu, Phuket ph (6676) 344211
Its near the Patong Tower. Sometimes the turn off from beach road is hard to see because of some vendors stands being in the way but if coming from the south, its one or two turns before Bangla Road.
Sample prices from memory
Pizzas 120 (cheapest and best pizzas we had)
Pastas 120 (best pasta we had, though only tried a few places)
Pad Thai 60 (45 - 60 for similary thai dishes)
Various other Asian dishes 70 (approx)
Side of rice 10
Starter of great spring rolls 55 (was 90 at Banana)
Soft drinks 15
To name just a few. They also have a variety of western foods and many other dishes. This was easily our favourite restaurant in Patong. Sweet was fine, but but no where near as good as this.
The owner is a Japanese guy named Nichioki (forgive my spelling if wrong)
If you eat along beach road, you will pay much higher prices, the better prices are down the road off of there. Also, if you want something closer to the Holiday Inn, the you are close to Banana and Orchid, but the prices are higher than Sweet and Break Point and I think, not as good quality either. Its on the main back road (Holiday Inn stretches between this road and beach road).
I would much prefer the bit longer walk for better food and prices.
Anyway, hope its helpful.
Drop back to Rat-U-Thit Road and head south a bit to BBQ Hut (east side of the road maybe 200 meters to the south) - some of the best Mexican food on the island, excellent BBQ ribs, B30 tacos during "Taco Happy Hour" 3-6PM and the BEST frozen margaritas (Oy!) on the island for B95. Tip a bit for the first one and the second one will be even stronger . . .
Walk even further up the beach road past Bangla road and you will come to Impama Resort past there is Chez Bernard, right on the beach. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is lovely and you can run the sand through your toes. Try it you won't be sorry. Jane
Im with you Jane, Chez Bernards is well worth going to, actually all the restaurants (Loma, Sabai Beach Restaurant) in that little beach section are good.
Next to them also try Nong James in the Loma Park restauarant complex, cheap delicious food, seafood as well.
Family Mansion 2 on Rat-U-Thit Rd is very good and moderately priced. We had one of the best mixed grills at Bushranger Bar & Grill on same rd up near your hotel.
Have a look at my link below, theres lots more restaurants we have been to along with photos and prices of the meals
Thanks so much for all your recommendations! This is wonderful!
Been to Patong many times and always seem to be stumped about where to eat, so this is super information!
