No one who knows Thailand well would ever compare it to Singapore.

I don't know that Thais have an "inflated" view of Thailand. I've lived in five countries outside my home country, anywhere from two to six year plus years each, and have yet to meet anyone from anywhere who didn't think their home country was wonderful. It is just a characteristic of most people that they love and know their home country/culture. It's what they know.

These long-winded rants by expats are a familiar feature here - and in many countries where lots of foreigners live. They are not difficult find, nor difficult to guess the content of - even without reading. Stickman has been featuring this kind of content on his website for well over ten years that I know of.

Thailand IS the developing world - it's not India - but yes, it is also not Japan. It's Thailand. It is what it is and wishful thinking that it was something else will only lead to frustration and disappointment.
