Day trip suggestions

We will be visiting Phuket for 10 days in July after some spending some time in Hong Kong. We were going to hire a car for a couple of days and were after suggestions on some good day trips. Last time we were there we drove north and then hired a boat to take us to James Bond Island. Would anyone have any ideas of trips of say up to 1.5 hours drive each way?

Hi,

How about a trip to Phi Phi? Or Coral Islands? The Similean islands are a bit far but absolutely spectacular. Both are really excellent day trips and should be a lot of fun.

Ciao!

Sorry Cornflake Girl, The Similans are actually closed between 15th May until 15th October. It is during our low season then and the conditions are rough not making it suitable for daytrips.

Cheers

Chantal.

Thanks for the suggestions. We were thinking about one of the islands for the day. Are there any tour groups you would recommend? We were also keen on a drive for the day if you have any other thoughts! Thanks.

As it is low season I would recommend day trip to Phi Phi but not on a speedboat.

There is only boat I know of and that is a large stable 30m long and 4.5 meter wide very nicely decorated, very cozpy and relaxing. Lots of lounge area inside and outside, lots of cushions.

They also provide snorkel instruction and a snorkel guide..

For low season they will be doing 2 trips a week. Tuesday and Sunday.

However I must mention that they cater to primarily Scandinavian tourist and use those agents to promote the trip.

So you wont find brochures at any of the kiosk anywhere.

Go to La Moet. The website is in Swedish but you can search around and find some photos. http://www.lamoet.com

email info@lamoet.com (English is fine)

If there are non-Scandinavian tourist the tour guide will speak English.

However in low season you are going to get waves. Take your sea sickness pill way before you get on the boat!

Hi Jorlaur, there are a number of reviews on activities if you look on 'Things To Do" on this page, up there on the left.

Also you can have a look at Cathy and Gary's website:

Good luck,

Thanks everyone. I think we might give a boat trip a miss as our kids tend to get sea sick. Cathy and Gary's drive to Khao Lak looks good so we might give that a try. We also noticed the Friday night BBQ on their pages so might join you all!
